Having KDE apps Integrated with Murrina for Gnome

Now that we’ve seen how to make KDE apps look like standard Ubuntu GNOME apps, I’d like to show you how to have KDE apps look like Murrine engine. Well, many of use use Murrine instead of standard GTK engine. But KDE apps cannot integrate with this wonderfull engine… unless we download a few packages 🙂

Murrine Theme for QTCurve

First, if you don’t know what murrine is, download it using Synaptic and download also the configurator. Just look for Murrine in Synaptic. Then download some theme. You can find a lot of Murrine Themes here. This is Cimi’s official website. The website of the author of murrine 🙂

Now for the apps in KDE. Supposing you installed kcontrol already (Find it in Synaptic, you need it), you can install from Synaptic QTCurve. Download every package you find looking for qtcurve.

Now point your web-browser here. After unpacking this theme, just run kcontrol (Alt+F2, then write kcontrol and press enter), choose QTCurve as your Style (Appearance & Themes –> Style) and then click on Configure. Now click on Options –> Import and choose the file we just unpacked. It is a .qtcurve file, infact.

Well, after you click on the apply button in style, your KDE apps will become as if they where running Murrine as the main engine! Just configure it to have a nice color that you like and be much more similar to your present Murrine Theme. QTCurve is easy to configure. FOr the rest, you may need to adjust also the Color Scheme depending on your main Murrine Theme.

    …where? 🙂

  2. Hi
Like the commenter before me I would appreciate it, if you could add the link to the .qtcurve file you mentioned 🙂

    thanks!

  3. Sorry boys, I forgot the link, thanks for the notification. It is fixed now 🙂
