About the Compiz Fusion Logo…

Well, so there has been a contest in the opencomposite community to choose a new logo for Compiz Fusion. First let’s say that you may already know of the existence of the original Compiz Logo. This one:

And I really don’t like it. Call this a logo? It’s horrible and not only. It does express nothing, plus, in a very little version (32×32 icon for example) it is barely visible. Let’s say it, the Beryl logo was so much better and that’s one reason why Beryl was famous an compiz not, beside the features that compiz DID NOT have.

But before this there was another logo, and I kinda liked it, dunno why it was thrown in the bath. It was this:

If you don’t like it never mind, it’s a taste matter. Some time ago there had been a vote to elect a new name for compcomm, the fusion between compiz and beryl, the result, the winner, was Coral. Now the developers never cared about that. They said it was only an isolated initiative by some enthusiasts from the Beryl community and they just decided the name by they’re own, after days when the entire community was waiting for a name to be victorious. They just said: we didn’t ask for it. We’re the devels. We decide. Be it.

So they decided that the new name had to be Compiz Fusion. For me and for a great part of the community it was essential that the new name had to be Beryl and Compiz related or none of the two related at all. No winner, no boss, no survivor, only a reunion. They didn’t care again. They decided for Compiz FUsion because there’s COmpiz in the name and the Fusion stands for the fact that Beryl has returned to its mom. Ridiculous. They may not admit it but that’s the only real reason they did it. And that’s sad and ridiculous. Just think that I also tried and explain, point by point, why the name Compiz Fusion HAD ABSOLUTELY NOT TO BE CHOOSEN and they just happened to chose it. This will only remember people forever of the Beryl Compiz passed war. And that’s bad.

But now there’s Compiz Fusion and guess what? They summoned another popular vote to choose a new logo. And again I voted and the winner was the logo I had choosen, this one:

Now do you tink this is going to be the new Compiz FUsion Logo? I don’t think so. Compiz extremists around the net have already pointed it out that this logo is no good cause it is not identical to the ne COmpiz had before (The horrible blue box meaning nothing). So the Logo that HAD TO BE CHOOSEN is this:

It wasn’t choosen, it even took very few votes but wanna know what do I think? Maybe not, I know, but I’ll tell you aniway. Just wait for some days and you’ll see that once again the vote in this new logo contest will be vanificated and they will choose the logo they like, the worst of ’em all in my opinion, the one with the blue box and the others colored box… kiddies in a basic school…. well, they’ve seen it already.

They have a bad taste and that’s for sure. Compiz was ignored by everyone once Beryl was out. Everybody out there was saying wow how cool Beryl and its logo where and the compiz extremists were still saying around that the compiz logo was not professional. Now, the winner of this contest IS A PROFESSIONAL logo and it is my prefered, the rpefered by the community and the one that looks better, cooler and on and on…

I don’t think they’re going to let good taste win, just sit down and wait.

While we wait for another change of mind from the compiz leaders (What does compiz should mean for normal people afterall?? Terrible even the name. I talk you about a composite manager, all of you understand what is it??) I want to show you the others logos proposed for this contest. Some of them where really nice, strange that they weren’t even mentioned in the final contest. Here’s the others candidates (We already saw 2 of them, didn’t we?)

Some of them are realy nice and you may like to download em and use them, nobody knows, despite the final logo contest result, which one will be the official logo even if it looks only obvious (Seeing how they acted with the name contest) that the choosen one will be Nécropotame‘s.
